7 Steps On How To Choose A Blog Niche

1. Identify your Interests
The very first step is to identify your interests and even your goals but how?
Problem:
In this world of AI, the problem is people are using AI to select niches and listening to others advice and then picking a niche – The reason they all quit blogging!
Solution:
The best way to choose a niche is by doing manual research and deep thinking!
Let’s see how can we achieve this in a logical way!
Point 1: Sit straight and start thinking what do you like the most? It can be your hobbies, your favorite subject, or any other thing you like!
Example: For me, I love to teach people blogging, I also love gardening, Playing instruments, listening to music, outdoor games, food, Nature, etc.
Point 2: Now think about which of the following niches can you actually write about for years even when you can’t do proper research.
Example: Let’s say you love technology reviews, maybe traveling, maybe gardening or running, etc. Let’s consider this situation.
So, now just be logical, can you write blogs or make videos about running for a long time? Probably for videos you can but writing it’s difficult right? You may think why it’s difficult? Well, wait and read you’ll understand!
What about traveling? You like traveling but can you actually have an interest in writing and even making videos?
First Solution:
Similarly just like above choose 3-5 topics for now in which you can actually write blogs and even make videos without getting bored even if you do it everyday for years.
Remember, Take your time!
2. Market Demand And Supply
Now that I hope you have selected 3-5 topics/ subjects whatever you call them, remember, these are not final topics, and now the 2nd thing you need to focus on is market demand and supply.
Remember that those 3-5 topics must meet the market demand i.e. there should be some searches on the Internet happening every single month for this topic/subject.
If volume is high it means that the topic is in demand.
To know more about this use tools like Google Trends, Ubersuggest, Semrush, etc, and type the keyword.
Keyword means the name of the query or topic that we search on Google, YouTube, and so on.
Example: How to make money online is an example of a keyword.
Tip:
Use these above tools and check the volume of keywords. The volumes can tell how much popular the keyword really is and why you should keep or reject working on it.
Now that you know the demand, it’s time to order the selected niches according to the volumes they get.
The Next step is to make sure that you look at the supply.
To know whether there is enough supply for the demand.
Go to Google, YouTube, and sites like Quora, Reddit, etc., and check whether there is enough content available or not!
Remember: You cannot create unique content every single time but in your own voice create a better content for the topic that’s already covered in high detail.
Second Solution:
Make sure you first check the demand of each niche and then the supply – Do it manually (the best way)
3. Audience

Audience here simply translates to the fact that you need to look at the type of audience that you want to target for your niche.
Example: If you are going to write about best Parenting practices then getting views from teenagers or old people doesn’t really make sense right?
I mean they can read it though but it’s probably going to help married couples right?
Another Example: WWE as a niche is interesting and here you cannot expect from people interested in Chess or football to read your blogs right? Again they can read but are not targeted right?
Tip: How to pick a blog niche is not only a question but it’s more than that hence audience is the key primary factor here so focus on the audience.
Example: If you decided on let’s say Technology reviews niche (like mobile reviews), then just think about people’s age, who can really buy, who can convince others to buy, and create a persona like fictional persons with age, demography, their problems, solutions, gender, salary, etc.
This will take some time and take your time!
Third Solution:
Remember audience can make you successful hence focus on the type of audience you are going to target and then craft content or decide to choose a niche further.
4. Competition
Now that you have 3-5 niches selected till now it’s time to sort them down to 2 or max 3. If you have 5 ideas in mind remove 2-3 ideas but why?
Competition simply refers to the amount of effort you have to give to succeed and stay on top compared to others in blogging.
Some niches like Digital Marketing, and How to Start a Blog have high competition and hence are not to be considered by beginners and they may not be able to cope up with the giants in this niche.
But niches like Baking, Yoga exercise, camping, etc. depending on the demand in a specific year have a certain level of competition, and hence competition is a bit low here.
There are 3 types of competition here:
- Low
- Medium
- High
Tip: Use the same tools I suggested above to find out the competition level in a niche and you will get your answer!
Remember: Low, medium, or high competition doesn’t mean that no new content can be published. Well, always identify the gaps in the market and try to create content based on it.
4th Solution:
Always choose low-medium niches and stick to them in the beginning, remember to niche down with the selected niche, and then start YouTube or blogging! This is a good practice to choose a blog niche.
5. Monetization

This is probably the final step for many of you to choose a blog niche.
Monetization which simply means the ability to monetize your content in the online business world.
Whatever niche you have selected right now, or go to points 1, and 2 again and select all the niches for this one, and please check which niche is most lucrative.
Tip: Again use tools as suggested above and look for CPC, PPC, and RPM of each niche or search online and check how much profitable niches are.
Follow more tools like Google Keyword Planner for the best accuracy.
Solution:
Niches with highest monetization options can be considered as your final niche and if it also covers green check from above 4 points too.
Also, go to amazon, affiliate programs and look for your niche products to realize the cost, demand of your selected niche.
Good luck if you identified your niche and all the best!
If not somehow, don’t worry 2 more points are remaining.
5th Solution:
Follow everything described and take time, you will surely identify your niche and I hope this clarifies how to choose a rprofitable blog niche.
6. Broad or Narrow
If you still haven’t decided how to pick a blog niche well don’t worry 2 points including this are remaining yet. Continue reading!
Every niche depth is going to be different.
Example: Digital Marketing and How to make protein-rich food. Obviously, the volume of searches, keywords, and CPC, is going to be different right?
Just look at the 2 niches and think how much narrow or broader they are.
Tip: Now, Choose a niche that’s broader but start with a narrow perspective, i.e. 1 niche and 1 category.
What I mean is let’s say your final selected category is food.
6th Solution:
Now food can be further categorized into – veg food recipes, baked food, spicy food, etc. you get the point right and then choose one category and cover it thoroughly and then cobver other categories.
To better know niches can be categorized into 3 types:
- Broad Niche
- Multi-niche
- Micro-niche
A niche that you have selected is a broad niche and don’t start a blog with a broad niche, start with a micro niche.
Micro niches are the examples I suggested above like veg food recipes, baked food, spicy veg food, etc and this is how to choose a profitable blog niche.
7. Future Growth Potential

If you still wonder okay I have some niche ideas but I can’t make the final decision then how to select a blogging niche?
Well, look at whether the niche has any future growth or not, okay?
It means for example: EV Cars and well they certainly have a future but what about how to fire home using stones?
Tip: You get the point right? Your niche must satisfy the future audience too.
7th Solution:
Select a niche that will stay relevant for years to come and get success in your respective field.
